Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Police Officer with the City of Starkville. As a Police Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining public safety and order, enforcing laws and regulations, and providing exceptional service to our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce Laws and Regulations: Patrol designated areas to prevent and detect crime, enforce traffic laws, and issue citations as necessary.
  • Provide Community Service: Respond to calls and complaints, provide assistance to the public, and engage in community outreach and education initiatives.
  • Investigate Incidents: Conduct preliminary and follow-up investigations, gather evidence, and interview witnesses to resolve cases.
  • Operate Vehicles: Safely operate police vehicles, including patrol cars and motorcycles, to respond to calls and conduct investigations.
  • Write Reports: Accurately and thoroughly document incidents, arrests, and other police activities in written reports.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or state-recognized equivalent.
  • Experience: Satisfactory prior work experience, if applicable, and good moral character.
  • License: Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Working Conditions

As a Police Officer with the City of Starkville, you will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, often in challenging weather conditions. You will be required to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and engage in physical activity as needed.
