Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at the City of Starkville. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing laws and ordinances, providing service and assistance to the public, and responding to emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce laws and ordinances of the municipality
  • Provide service and assistance to the public in non-law enforcement situations
  • Respond to calls and complaints involving criminal and non-criminal incidents
  • Administer first aid at the scene of an accident
  • Conduct preliminary and/or follow-up investigations
  • Interview witnesses and gather evidence and information
  • Direct traffic
  • Issue traffic and parking citations
  • Operate motor vehicles
  • Write and file reports
Requirements
  • High school diploma or state-recognized equivalent
  • Satisfactory prior work experience, if applicable, and good moral character
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable MVR
Working Conditions

Police Officers at the City of Starkville work in a fast-paced environment and are exposed to various weather conditions. They must be able to walk, stand, and sit for long periods and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
