Position Overview

  • This role involves overseeing clinical operations for multiple specialty operating rooms.
  • No on-call duties are required.

In this position, you will serve as a clinical authority in the provision and management of comprehensive patient care, applying research and evidence-based practices as needed; you will be responsible for expertly managing patients across various services and specialties, including those with more complex diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

Education:
A graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing; a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:
A current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas or a temporary/compact license.
Certification in Basic Life Support is required.
Additional certifications may be necessary based on specific discipline and/or nursing unit needs.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
A minimum of 10 years of nursing experience in the relevant specialty.

Principal Duties:

Coordinate and direct all activities among the interdisciplinary team to enhance departmental throughput and achieve positive outcomes; collaborate with ancillary departments such as laboratory, radiology, registration, and bed management to ensure timely processes.

Assign daily tasks to personnel based on their skill sets and the specific needs of the patient population; identify and utilize available resources to address challenges; work in conjunction with other clinical coordinators to ensure adequate departmental staffing.

Act as a liaison among departmental staff, medical professionals, patients, and their families; assist in addressing patient care concerns, issues, and complaints; conduct daily leadership rounds on the assigned unit.

Employ critical thinking and sound clinical judgment to autonomously resolve issues; escalate significant occurrences or notify nursing leadership/supervisors as appropriate.

Facilitate the resolution of patient concerns, ensuring effective service recovery.

Serve as a mentor and coach to assigned staff, providing input for their annual performance evaluations.

Engage in systematic, interdisciplinary, and ongoing evaluations of programs, process improvements, and desired client-centered outcomes.

Consider the diverse needs of each patient throughout their care continuum, ensuring the highest level of service in accordance with established standards, thereby optimizing the patient experience.

Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards while managing budgetary constraints, including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.

Promote individual professional growth and development by fulfilling requirements for mandatory and continuing education, as well as skills competency; support department-based goals that contribute to the organization’s success; serve as a preceptor, mentor, and resource for less experienced staff.
