Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of experienced researchers to investigate the intricate mechanisms by which redox modifications of proteins affect phosphorylation-dependent signaling pathways in both health and disease.
Research efforts will concentrate on elucidating the relationship between the structure and function of the Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase (PTP) family, particularly how oxidative processes lead to their inactivation, thereby impacting redox signaling associated with various diseases.
In this role, the postdoctoral researcher will leverage existing data and methodologies to delve into the inactivation of PTP1B in cardiac hypertrophy and explore innovative therapeutic interventions aimed at reactivating PTP1B in living organisms.
The candidate will gain hands-on experience with a variety of techniques, including but not limited to immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, microscopy, redox assays, and proteomics, both in vitro and in vivo.
This position, funded by a prestigious grant, offers opportunities for the researcher to present findings at national and international conferences, engage in collaborative research projects, and receive training in grant writing.
Qualifications:
We are looking for enthusiastic candidates with a strong interest in cellular signaling and cardiac hypertrophy.
Applicants should demonstrate a proven ability to conduct, analyze, and critically evaluate experiments within the context of broader research objectives.
A minimum of one published manuscript or a manuscript available on a preprint server is required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration within a multidisciplinary team. Candidates should also exhibit a commitment to fostering inclusive and equitable relationships within a diverse research environment, supporting principles of diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging in their professional conduct.Preferred Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in biochemistry or a closely related discipline is preferred.
