Key Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of the department manager to perform testing, including monitoring the work of laboratory technicians, entering test results into the laboratory computer, performing instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, answering telephones, collecting blood specimens, and maintaining a clean and stocked work area.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, caregivers, and colleagues.
- Perform laboratory tests, quality control testing, and monitor the work of laboratory staff.
- Adhere to laboratory standard operating procedures and policies.
- Operate laboratory computer systems to request laboratory tests, access patient results, and enter patient results.
- Process patient workload accurately and efficiently.
- Send specimens to reference labs as needed for testing.
- Perform instrument troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on instruments and equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
- Complete competency testing as assigned by Laboratory Management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology, biology, chemistry, or a related physical science.
- Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a medical technologist, medical laboratory scientist, or international medical laboratory scientist.
