Job DescriptionJob Description for Research Scientist-Quantum Technologies
This role involves conducting research for technology development activities on quantum devices and interconnects at 300 mm wafer scale, with applications to superconducting quantum computing, superconducting digital logic, and superconducting neuromorphic computing on silicon substrates.
The successful candidate will rapidly gain familiarity with 300mm wafer-scale processing technologies and wafer fab operational software (SiView) to create and update process flows.
Key responsibilities include characterizing structures and devices created in the 300 mm fab, analyzing data using software made available, and developing process design kits for use by NY CREATES partners.
The candidate will partner with the 300 mm fab team to identify areas for performance improvement, develop plans of action, and execute them in a timely fashion.
Collaboration with research partners to obtain cryogenic characterization data will also be a key aspect of the role.
Additionally, the Research Scientist will contribute to growing R&D partnerships with start-up and established companies, academia, national laboratories, and other research institutions.
The role aims to establish NY CREATES as a leader in emerging technology areas through world-class research that accelerates new technologies towards commercial adoption.
RequirementsMinimum Requirements for Research Scientist- Quantum Technologies
A Ph.D. degree from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization is required.
Research experience in one or more areas of superconducting materials, devices, and circuits, as well as cryogenic characterization, is essential.
Cleanroom fabrication experience is also necessary.
A commitment to research data management with integrity is expected.
Familiarity with software products made available by NY CREATES, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, is required.
Preferred RequirementsPh.D. thesis work on superconducting materials and devices from a top-tier university is preferred.
A track-record of publications in high-impact factor journals, in areas relating to superconducting materials and devices for digital electronics and/or quantum computing, is also desirable.
Experience working in large teams is an asset.
