About the Role

Abbott Laboratories is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Controls Engineer II to join our team in Scarborough, Maine. As a key member of our Abbott Rapid Diagnostics team, you will play a critical role in supporting product development from concept through sustained manufacturing of FDA-regulated products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement process development, equipment specification, and acquisition plans to ensure efficient and compliant manufacturing operations.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot machine logic and controls to identify process improvement opportunities and ensure compliance with cGMP and quality standards.
  • Design and implement controls hardware and software into new and existing manufacturing equipment to optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams and coordinate activities to ensure timely and effective implementation of engineering principles and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and technicians to develop solutions and improvements in materials, equipment, and process as necessary.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a GMP, FDA, ISO, and USDA regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with cGMP and ISO 13485 regulations and practices.
  • Familiarity with a variety of material testing and measuring methods.
