Job Title: Deputy General Counsel, Privacy

At Atlassian, we're seeking a seasoned and highly skilled Privacy leader to drive the evolution and maturation of our global privacy program. As Deputy General Counsel, Privacy, you'll play a critical role in setting a strategic vision for a world-class privacy function and turning that vision into reality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive privacy program that ensures Atlassian maintains industry-leading practices in privacy and data protection.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Legal, Engineering, Product, Security, People, and IT, to ensure privacy considerations are integrated into business roadmaps, systems, and initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory, governmental, industry, and peer groups on privacy and data security issues.
  • Develop and implement training and education programs to drive enterprise and employee awareness around privacy and data security issues.
  • Deliver data-driven reporting that informs executives and business teams on progress and effectiveness of privacy initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of privacy (or related) experience, with direct involvement working with the General Counsel/CLO.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and collaborate with cross-functional executives (C-suite, Chief Trust Officer, CISO, Board members etc.).
  • Deep understanding of privacy laws, regulations, and frameworks, such as GDPR, CPRA, HIPAA, and ISO.
  • Ability to think BIG and chart a strategic direction for the Privacy team.
  • Passion for leading a growing and hungry Privacy team, with demonstrated success in hiring the best talent on the market, and developing their careers.
  • Strong communication skills that translate complex privacy topics into easily digestible content for technical teams.
  • Direct, action-oriented approaches to solving problems.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-changing environment.
  • Team-oriented mentality, humility, and a healthy sense of humor.
Compensation:

At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone A: $324,000 - $400,000

Zone B: $324,000 - $400,000

Zone C: $324,000 - $400,000

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
