Senior Counsel, Global Licensing

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Counsel to join our Global Licensing team at OKX. As a key member of our legal team, you will play a critical role in supporting the company's expansion into new markets.

About the Role:

The Senior Counsel will be responsible for leading the licensing process in specific jurisdictions, working closely with the Global Licensing Team to obtain key licenses. You will also manage external counsel, conduct legal research, and advise on legal and regulatory aspects of the business's regional strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the licensing process in specific jurisdictions and work with the Global Licensing Team to obtain key licenses.
  2. Manage external counsel and conduct legal research into global laws and regulations applicable to the crypto industry.
  3. Advise on legal and regulatory aspects of the business's regional strategy.
  4. Draft and revise application materials in collaboration with the Global Licensing Team and other business teams.
  5. Meet and communicate with regulators and other governmental bodies related to the company's licensing efforts.
  6. Collaborate with product and business development teams to achieve company-wide projects and goals.
  7. Assist with civil or regulatory litigation matters and supervise outside counsel as needed.

Requirements:

  1. Active membership with a US state bar (CA or NY preferred), or equivalent.
  2. 12+ years of experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team, preferably in a financial services-related industry or other firmly-regulated space.
  3. Enthusiastic about blockchain technology and have an understanding of the relevant legal/regulatory landscape.
  4. Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage and multi-cultural environment.
  5. Ability to effectively advise and build trust with business teams.
  6. Ability to navigate through legal ambiguity.
  7. Self-starter, quick learner who is highly driven, proactive, responsive and precise.
  8. Project management experience with superior organizational skills.
