Per Diem Urology Technician

We are seeking a skilled Per Diem Urology Technician to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. The successful candidate will provide exceptional patient care and support in an outpatient urology setting.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct and indirect patient care activities to support comprehensive care.
- Collaborate with team members to create a safe and supportive environment for patients.
- Perform patient care responsibilities consistent with age-specific criteria under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Respect patient rights and maintain confidentiality.
- Assist with shaving, clipping, and prepping as required under the direction of a registered nurse.
- Recognize and address the physical, spiritual, and psychological needs of patients and families.
- Apply asepsis and disinfection principles in the care of supplies, instruments, and the environment.
- Identify and apply sterile technique principles when assisting with procedures.
- Prepare items and instruments for sterilization, receive, sort, decontaminate, and clean surgical items.
- Assemble and wrap instrument trays, store, and rotate items.
- Verify exposure to sterilization and integrity of instruments and equipment.
- Report defective material or equipment to specialty team coordinators.
- Follow unit policy for dress code and assist in preparation of procedure rooms.
- Select supplies and equipment for procedures and open sterile supplies using sterile technique.
- Identify accessory equipment for procedures and ensure patient safety through aseptic techniques.
- Prepare procedural fields with sterile supplies and prep patients for procedures.
- Continuously monitor and report breaks in aseptic technique.
- Properly identify and review specimens and adhere to standard precaution guidelines.
- Assist in preparing next assignment for room and demonstrate accountability as a healthcare professional.
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required, along with CNA or other educational equivalent. Additional experience is preferred and will be specified depending on placement. All candidates must successfully complete the Urology Competency Based Training and Practicum within three months of starting in the position.
