Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will be responsible for evaluating and treating patients in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat patients with a range of diagnoses, including post-surgical, developmental, neurological, genetic, oncologic, and traumatic conditions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Provide patient and family education, and ensure continuity of care during scheduled time off.
  • Participate in department Quality Assurance activities, and maintain accurate and concise patient care documentation and billing.
  • Meet required educational contact hours to maintain licensure, and stay informed of current developments in the field through ongoing professional development.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Speech Language Pathology program or equivalent, and Master's degree.
  • No experience required, but one to two years' experience in an academic or large medical center-based practice is preferred.
  • Current unencumbered license or temporary permit to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist in Connecticut, and BLS certification.
  • Membership in the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) is required.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to stand, walk, talk, hear, lift, push, pull, reach, stoop, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive motions. The worker may be exposed to blood and body fluids, hazardous materials, and communicable diseases.

The worker must be able to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects or the human body.

Functions with or without the assistance of reasonable accommodation as determined on a case-by-case basis.

Additional Information

This is a per diem position, and the worker will be required to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.

The worker must be able to operate various exercise equipment, whirlpools, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation equipment.

The worker must be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and other providers in a synergistic manner.

The worker must be willing and able to assume increased responsibilities as required.

Experience with FEES, MBS, and TEP is preferred.
