Job Summary

The California Department of Education is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Part-Time Mental Health Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our support services, you will provide critical mental health services to students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counseling services to students, faculty, and staff, addressing a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, and trauma.
  • Conduct intake evaluations, develop treatment plans, and provide ongoing therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with campus administrators, faculty, and staff to identify and address mental health concerns and develop strategies to promote student well-being.
  • Develop and facilitate support groups, workshops, and educational programs to promote mental health awareness and prevention.
  • Provide crisis intervention services, including risk assessment and suicide prevention.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, adhering to all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Consult with faculty, staff, and administrators to provide guidance on mental health-related issues and develop strategies to promote a healthy campus environment.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Current California Mental Health License (LMFT, LPCC, LCSW, or PsyD).
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including students, faculty, and staff.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Knowledge of mental health laws, regulations, and best practices.
Working Conditions

This is a part-time position, with a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a high level of autonomy and independence.
