Department SummaryAs a leading provider of medical and mental health services for the LGBT community, we are dedicated to enhancing the well-being of LGBTQ individuals. Our services are offered at little to no cost, and we pride ourselves on being one of the few Federally Qualified Health Centers with specialized providers for LGBTQ primary care.
Role SummaryThe Mental Health Clinician II is responsible for delivering individual, couple, and group counseling services. This role involves documenting client progress, employing a short-term treatment model, and addressing walk-in clients, including those in crisis.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual, couple, and group counseling sessions, ensuring thorough documentation of client progress.
- Utilize a short-term treatment model, with supervisor approval required for extending sessions.
- Be available for walk-in clients and manage crisis situations as they arise.
- Conduct intake assessments and prepare necessary documentation for client records.
- Engage in multi-disciplinary Clinical Case Conferences to present and review assigned cases.
- Facilitate appropriate referrals to external services and follow up to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the clinic.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions and appointment schedules.
- Engage in clinical supervision and attend mandatory training sessions.
- Assist in coordinating the efforts of paraprofessional volunteers and junior clinicians.
- Contribute to program planning and evaluation activities.
- Attend staff meetings and other relevant gatherings as required.
- Experience working with the LGBTQ community and understanding relevant issues.
- A strong commitment to the mission of supporting LGBTQ individuals.
- Master's degree in social work (MSW) with a minimum of 2000 accrued hours.
- Eligibility for licensure in a related field.
- Two years of counseling experience in various settings.
- Bilingual abilities, particularly in English and Spanish, are advantageous.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team focused on LGBTQ resources and services.
- Proven capability to work under supervision and maintain a respectful approach to diverse populations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and databases.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in a multicultural environment.
