Job Title: Senior IC Layout Engineer

At SpaceX, we're pushing the boundaries of innovation and technology. As a Senior IC Layout Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing and developing cutting-edge integrated circuits for our advanced space systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with IC designers and chip leads to determine chip floor plans, including power and ground distribution, and packaging engineer to determine pad locations.
  • Estimate layout work schedules and identify areas of complexity requiring early investigation.
  • Perform layout of custom RF and analog circuit blocks, focusing on matching and minimizing parasitic capacitance.
  • Conduct design rule checking, electrical rule checking, and layout versus schematic checks, resolving errors.
  • Integrate top-level layout with electrostatic discharge structures and pad assembly, and perform final tape out, including density fill and design for manufacturability checks.
  • Work with EDA suppliers to trial new tools and features.
  • Develop guides and demos for team members to showcase improvements in layout technique.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering.
  • 5+ years of professional experience as an IC layout designer or 8+ years of experience with integrated circuit layout design.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Strong analog layout skills.
  • Experience in advanced node IC layouts, such as 22nm, 16nm, 7nm, or 5nm.
  • Experience in layout of circuits with frequencies up to 50GHz.
  • Experience in layout of sensitive RF blocks, such as low noise amplifiers, voltage controlled oscillators, and mixers.
  • Experience with scripting languages, such as Perl, Python, or similar.
  • Experience managing revision control systems.
  • Understanding of layout considerations for device matching, coupling, and noise isolation.
  • Working knowledge of Linux.
Additional Requirements:
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed to meet critical milestones.
Compensation and Benefits:

At SpaceX, we offer a competitive salary range of $160,000 to $220,000 per year, depending on experience. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, discretionary bonuses, and access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan and paid parental leave.
