Role Responsibilities

As a Senior Layout Engineer/Lead, you will be crucial in delivering Analog Mixed-Signal IP within a SOC framework. Your duties will encompass designing intricate layouts for mixed-signal and analog circuits, evaluating floorplans, and collaborating with circuit designers to analyze complex circuits. You will execute comprehensive design verification processes, organize and schedule tasks, and manage essential layout trade-offs. Proficient interpretation of LVS, DRC, and ERC reports will be vital in identifying the most efficient methods to finalize layouts, surpassing engineering specifications and expectations.

Essential Qualifications
  • Over 10 years of experience in analog/mixed-signal layout design, particularly in deep submicron CMOS circuits, with a minimum of 3 years in FinFET technologies.
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as SKILL, Perl, TCL, Shell, and/or Python.
  • Familiarity with Machine Learning and AI principles.
  • Demonstrated expertise in executing analog layout designs, ensuring tight matching, low noise, and minimal power consumption.
  • Ability to identify failure-prone circuit and layout structures, with experience in analog and DFM best practices, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • High level of skill in custom and standard cell-based floor-planning and hierarchical layout assembly.
  • Technical knowledge of IR drop, RC delay, electromigration, self-heating, and coupling capacitance.
  • Strong ability to interpret physical verification reports (DRC, ERC, LVS, etc.).
  • Experience with advanced features of Cadence Virtuoso (XL, EAD, APR, and Constraint Manager).
  • Excellent communication skills and capability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Additional skills (preferred):
  • Familiarity with Cadence Innovus.
  • Experience in CAD Automation.
  • PCell creation experience.
Education & Experience

A degree in BSEE, MSEE, CS, or equivalent with over 10 years of relevant experience. A focus on Mixed-Signal and RF Integrated Circuits is advantageous. Compensation & Benefits
  • At Apple, base pay is just one component of our total compensation package and is determined within a specified range. This allows for growth as you develop within your role. The base pay range for this position is between $157,000 and $278,900, with your base pay influenced by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

    Apple employees also have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Employees may be eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
