Rigger Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Rigger to join our team at Shipyard Staffing LLC. As a Rigger, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient installation, removal, and repositioning of machinery, structural members, and heavy equipment on U.S. Naval Surface Ship and Submarine platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Load Handling: Estimate weights and center of gravity of loads to be moved, plan weight distribution, and attach the appropriate lifting gear.
  • Rigging Operations: Maneuver loads, brace, cushion, prepare, and attach lifting gear, including chain falls, shackles, chain hoists, synthetic slings, and beam clamps.
  • Complex Suspension Techniques: Use multipoint suspension techniques to maneuver loads and move objects in confined areas.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to proper rigging practices and safety factors of rigging equipment.
  • Team Leadership: Control the movements of heavy or large pieces of equipment through narrow passages and instruct helpers and workers in proper and safe rigging practices.
