This essential role focuses on providing comprehensive education and support to patients regarding their health insurance options. The position involves assisting patients in understanding the complexities of various insurance plans and making informed decisions regarding their healthcare coverage.

The Insurance Support Specialist will engage with patients, clinical teams, billing departments, and senior management, requiring a high level of professionalism and emotional intelligence.

Location Requirement: Candidates should be located in the DFW area.

Remote Work: Occasional travel to headquarters may be necessary for team gatherings.

In this role, the Insurance Support Specialist will help reduce the anxiety that patients often face when navigating intricate insurance options while managing their healthcare needs.

Success in this position requires a strong commitment to customer service and the ability to establish trust and rapport with patients and colleagues over the phone. Team members will develop skills in motivational interviewing and gain in-depth knowledge of both commercial and government health insurance benefits, financial assistance programs, and leave options.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct telephonic patient education while adhering to compliance standards.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities to enhance patients' insurance status, alleviating financial burdens.
  • Assist patients in finding and securing insurance coverage and financial assistance programs.
  • Perform insurance assessments and evaluations for patients.
  • Document and categorize patient education sessions accurately.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to meet educational needs.
  • Act as a liaison among patients, facility staff, billing departments, and corporate offices to resolve insurance-related issues.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and assist in onboarding new team members.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to meet objectives and reporting requirements related to patient education.
  • Build and maintain relationships with field partners to ensure seamless patient support.
  • Engage in improvement projects as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

High School Diploma required.

Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • At least two years of experience in customer service, healthcare, or insurance.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word and Outlook; basic skills in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector, particularly in clinical settings.
  • Strong understanding of various insurance plans and benefits.
  • Experience in case management or social work is preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Work Schedule: Occasional optional Saturday and evening events may be required.
