Position Summary:
The Associate Program Manager role at Airbus U.S. involves overseeing or co-managing contract programs within our Space Systems business line. You will serve as the primary liaison with clients, ensuring that program objectives align with cost, schedule, and performance benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Oversight (45%):
- Oversee designated space programs under guidance.
- Track technical tasks, budget, timelines, and risks for programs of lower complexity.
- Collaborate with team members to efficiently develop and implement program strategies.
- Create detailed Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and monitor project expenditures.
- Manage project timelines, identifying key milestones, dependencies, and resource needs.
- Resolve issues, implement corrective measures as needed, and effectively manage project risks.
Stakeholder Engagement (25%):
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with clients and both internal and external stakeholders.
- Directly oversee partnerships, program evaluations, and key milestones.
- Develop effective working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and external partners.
Financial Management, Contract Compliance, and Coordination (25%):
- Work closely with finance, contracting, and supply chain teams to ensure adherence to financial and contractual standards.
- Provide essential guidance for program success and contribute to enhancing project management practices.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in aerospace, systems, electrical, mechanical, or thermal engineering, or a related discipline.
- Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is advantageous.
- Experience: A minimum of two years of progressive experience in engineering or business project management.
- Knowledge and Skills: Familiarity with space systems and technologies, and understanding of U.S. government contracts.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal, analytical, and presentation abilities, with a capacity to work effectively in diverse teams.
- Technical Proficiency: Competence in Office 365, MS Office suite, and MS Project.
Travel Requirements:
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.
- Eligibility for U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance.
- Ability to make decisions and manage multiple tasks within legal and ethical parameters.
- Engage in daily communications with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Physical demands may include carrying, lifting, and travel-related activities.
