Position Overview:
The Associate Program Manager plays a crucial role, working under close guidance to oversee or assist in the management of contract programs within the Airbus U.S. Space Systems line of business. This position acts as a key liaison with customers, ensuring that all program aspects are executed effectively to meet established cost, schedule, and performance objectives. The APM is responsible for coordinating the efforts of various centralized functions, including engineering, supply chain, finance, trade compliance, and legal, to fulfill all program requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Management (45%):
- Assists in managing assigned space program(s) under supervision.
- Monitors technical tasks, costs, schedules, and risks for programs of lower complexity.
- Facilitates project planning, budgeting, and scheduling while providing regular updates to management.
- Offers daily direction and support to project teams, ensuring alignment with cost and schedule objectives.
- Develops detailed Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and tracks project expenditures against budgetary baselines.
- Collaborates with master schedulers to outline major milestones and resource allocation needs.
- Identifies issues or delays and recommends corrective actions to keep projects on track.
- Maintains project risk management plans to document and mitigate potential risks.
- Ensures compliance with Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs) and manages timelines across internal and external organizations.
- Tracks milestone progress and manages invoicing for completed work.
Stakeholder Engagement (25%):
- Builds and nurtures strong relationships with customers and stakeholders to facilitate successful program execution.
- Directly manages relationships with partners and affiliates, overseeing program definitions, deliverables, and schedules.
- Establishes effective working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
Financial and Compliance Coordination (25%):
- Works with finance, contracting, supply chain, and compliance teams to ensure projects adhere to financial and contractual guidelines.
- Provides necessary guidance to keep programs aligned with project scope and budget.
- Utilizes project management expertise to enhance Airbus U.S. project management processes.

Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace, systems, electrical, mechanical, or thermal engineering, or a related STEM field.
Certifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience in satellite design or production.
- Experience in technical or business project management, particularly with small teams.
- Familiarity with subcontracting and supply chain processes is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of space systems and technologies.
- Familiarity with U.S. government contracting processes.
- Knowledge of program management metrics and reporting methods.
Communication Skills:
- Ability to think critically and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and presentation abilities.
- Collaborative approach with a professional demeanor.
- Capability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Technical Proficiency:
- Proficient in Office 365, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint.
- Experience with MS Office suite and MS Project.
- Familiarity with Salesforce and Deltek systems is a plus.
Travel Requirements:
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
- Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate program needs.
Eligibility:
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
Clearance:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance.
Decision-Making:
- Able to manage multiple tasks and make informed decisions.
