Patient Escort Specialist

About the Role:

This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth transportation of patients within the hospital complex. As a Patient Escort Specialist, you will be responsible for transporting patients to and from various units, maintaining their safety, and adhering to confidentiality guidelines.

Responsibilities:
  1. Obtain patient escort assignments and schedules from a designated Dispatch/Supervisor
  2. Report to Dispatch on completion of assignment
  3. Identify self to patient and explain the nature of trip
  4. Transport patient to assigned areas per policy/procedure
  5. Maintain safety when transporting/escorting patients
  6. Adhere to patient confidentiality, when transporting patient with chart
  7. Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, bed or stretcher-bed and escorts ambulatory patients, including those with intravenous apparatus to and from various units, transfers and discharges
  8. Escort newly admitted patients to designated areas in the hospital complex and assists them in storing their luggage, packages, clothing and other items
  9. Receive discharge patient in wheelchair on unit and transport patient to designated discharge area
  10. Escort/transports mother and infant when discharged safely to assigned discharge area
Requirements:
  • Graduation from elementary school
  • Successful completion of a basic skills training program for Nurse Aides, or its equivalent
Compensation:

The estimated annual salary for this position is around $45,000-$60,000 based on the current market rate in New York City.
