Job Overview

The Automotive Financial Manager is a key member of the Mills Auto Group team, responsible for ensuring the fair presentation of the company's financial statements. This role involves implementing controls to ensure compliance and completing activities necessary to accomplish these goals.

About the Role

This position requires a strong background in accounting and finance, with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a controller in an automotive dealership. Prior experience with CDK DMS system, including Payroll Plus, is preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure bank deposits are made and recorded daily (includes ACH, wire transfers, etc)
  • Reconcile all bank accounts on a daily basis
  • Revise/post monthly standard entries by the 15th of each month
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules to ensure they agree with related general ledger accounts
  • Work with office staff to ensure timely completion of assignments
  • Prepare reports as requested by management company and/or department managers
  • Prepare tax reports on a timely basis (i.e. sales tax, tire disposal tax, lease tax, tangible personal property taxes, etc.)
  • Complete end of month procedures accurately and on time
  • Report all financial statements required by the franchisor & management company each month
  • Review and maintain accounting schedules on a monthly basis
  • Complete account reconciliations on a monthly basis (i.e. floor plan, bank, finance reserves, manufacturer's statements, accounts payable, etc.)
  • Report all finance product sales documents on a timely basis each month (i.e. warranty, GAP policies, etc.)
  • Mail checks for accounts payable by the 15th of each month
  • Make recommendations to improve office operation efficiency
  • Meet with company managers weekly to review expenses, processing issues, status of outstanding contracts, vehicle receivables, accounts receivables, rebate/incentive receivables, etc.
  • Assist CFO and dealership managers in preparing budgets
  • Reconcile Monthly Parts accounts and give to the CFO
  • Perform Monthly Physical inventories and give to the CFO and Variable Operations Director
  • Process title work accurately and on time
  • Stock vehicle inventory daily as received
  • Process vehicle sales, service, parts & body shop sales daily and post to accounting
  • Review outstanding repair orders (WIP) to verify they are being closed on a timely basis. Service department repair orders should not be open for more than 3 working days. Body shop tickets will require inquiry to determine status of the job
  • Review open parts tickets to verify they are being closed on a timely basis. Parts tickets should not be open for more than 2 days
  • Sales managers take physical inventory of vehicles each month and reconcile to general ledger
  • Mailing monthly accounts receivable statements on a timely basis each month (includes inter-company) and timely collection of outstanding accounts
  • Reconcile WIP

Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience.
