Position Overview
As a Patient Care Technician II, you will play a vital role in assisting healthcare professionals in delivering essential patient care services. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks aimed at addressing the health needs of patients, including conducting physical assessments, performing routine tests, and administering intravenous therapies as necessary, all while adhering to established protocols and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Emergency and Urgent Care Support: Provide prompt medical assistance to patients in emergency situations. Prepare patients for examinations, ensuring the availability of necessary equipment and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Patient Care Implementation: Assist in the execution of patient care plans by gathering relevant information, performing delegated care tasks, and documenting patient outcomes effectively. Monitor and record vital signs, manage specimen collection, and support patients with daily living activities.
  • Crisis Management: Respond to emergencies with immediate action, collaborating with security and law enforcement to maintain a secure environment.
  • IV Therapy Administration: Demonstrate proficiency in IV therapy, including the initiation and maintenance of intravenous lines, monitoring for complications, and adhering to infection control practices.
  • Diagnostic Procedures: Conduct EKGs and phlebotomy, ensuring accurate patient communication and documentation throughout the process.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Interact with patients and staff in a respectful and courteous manner, promoting a positive healthcare experience.
  • Administrative Duties: Perform clerical tasks such as managing phone calls, filing, and maintaining patient records to support departmental operations.
  • Safety and Compliance: Uphold confidentiality and adhere to all safety and compliance regulations, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Continuous Learning: Engage in ongoing training and education to enhance skills and support departmental initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an approved EMT program or equivalent certification required.
  • EMT license or Advanced EMT certification required.
  • Basic Life Support Certification required.
  • Minimum of six months of relevant experience required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of patients and equipment.
  • Capability to respond to emergency situations promptly.
