Preschool Early Intervention Paraprofessional

The Allegheny Intermediate Unit is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Paraprofessional to join our team in the Preschool Early Intervention program. As a Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and therapeutic needs of young children with special needs.
Key Responsibilities- Assist children with daily living skills, such as toileting, dressing, and feeding, as needed.
- Provide one-on-one support to eligible young children in early childhood settings, including preschool, Head Start, and childcare.
- Assist with instructional tasks, such as preparing materials, operating equipment, and maintaining a safe and organized classroom environment.
- Communicate effectively with children, teachers, therapists, and supervisors to ensure seamless support and collaboration.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting children with special needs.
- Travel between assignments as needed, using a base location for travel reimbursement.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An Associate degree or equivalent number of college credits, or a PATTAN Paraeducator Certificate.
- 1-2 years' experience working with children with special needs, preferably in a preschool setting.
- Training in crisis intervention, CPR, and First Aid, preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to speak clearly and distinctly, and to prioritize the needs of students.
The physical demands of this role include:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to sit on preschool-size chairs and floor as necessary.
- Ability to walk up and down stairs, and to run to implement services.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50 pounds.
- Ability to kneel, crouch, bend, and reach to retrieve and handle teaching materials and supplies.
The Allegheny Intermediate Unit offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including:
- $21,177.00-$21,592.00 per AIUFT Bargaining Unit Agreement Step.
- Per the AIUFT Bargaining Unit Agreement.
