Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Paraprofessional to join our team at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. The successful candidate will provide support to our preschool education program, working closely with certified professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students with daily tasks, such as toileting, dressing, and feeding, as needed.
  • Prepare and operate instructional equipment and materials, including audio/visual equipment, computers, and educational software.
  • Assist with lesson planning and implementation, under the direction of certified professionals.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students, as needed, to help them achieve their educational goals.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy learning environment, adhering to all relevant health and safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff, using clear and respectful language.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Associate degree or equivalent number of college credits required.
  • 1-2 years' experience working with children with special needs preferred.
  • Training in crisis intervention, CPR, and First Aid preferred.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, communicating effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively, meeting deadlines and achieving goals.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with frequent interactions with students, parents, and staff. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential, as is the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
