Early Intervention Paraprofessional

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Early Intervention Paraprofessional to join our team at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. As a key member of our special education team, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and therapeutic needs of our students.
Responsibilities- Assist students with daily living skills, such as toileting, dressing, and feeding, as needed.
- Provide one-on-one support to students in the classroom, including assistance with academic tasks, behavioral interventions, and social skills development.
- Assist teachers and therapists with lesson planning, implementation, and data collection.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment, including cleaning, sanitizing, and restocking materials.
- Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents through verbal and written correspondence.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with the educational team to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral intervention plans (BIPs).
- Assist with data collection and record-keeping, including tracking student progress and maintaining accurate records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the teacher and/or administration.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An associate degree or equivalent number of college credits.
- 1-2 years of experience working with children with special needs, preferably in a preschool or early intervention setting.
- Training in crisis intervention, CPR, and First Aid is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain a high level of organization.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand, sit, and move around the classroom and school building.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Walk up and down stairs, and run to implement services as needed.
- Speak clearly and distinctly, and hear clearly in a noisy environment.
- Adequately see and perform duties in a variety of lighting conditions.
