Traffic Safety Program Adjunct Faculty

Fox Valley Technical College is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach in the Traffic Safety Program. As an adjunct instructor, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education to our students and contributing to the success of our college.

Job Summary

The Traffic Safety Program Adjunct Faculty will be responsible for teaching courses in traffic safety, group dynamics, and multiple offender programs. You will work closely with students to ensure their success, model our college's core values, and demonstrate commitment to excellence in program/course content and delivery.

Essential Job Functions
  • Plan, develop, and implement instructional strategies, including alternative delivery methods when appropriate.
  • Assist and advise students with academic matters, including assignments, tests, grades, and career concerns.
  • Research, develop, and administer skills assessments to evaluate student performance in courses taught by the instructor.
  • Promote student success through timely communication, growth-based feedback, and implementation of strategies that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, and providing grades on a timely basis.
  • Meet professional expectations by maintaining professional currency and contributing to a collaborative culture across the College.
  • Attend division, department, and advisory committee meetings as requested.
  • Participate in staff development activities, such as diversity awareness, technology training, and other professional development opportunities.
Qualifications, Training, and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or Associate Degree with relevant experience and expertise.
  • Current certification as a General Traffic Safety, Group Dynamics, and Multiple Offender instructor.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based, quality environment.
  • Preparation in educational principles, teaching, curriculum development, or guidance and counseling is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Teaching or training experience is desirable.
Traffic Safety Program Instructor Qualifications

To be certified, a group dynamics traffic safety instructor must meet at least two of the following three subsections, including sub. (1) (a), (2) (a), or (3) (a) from at least one subsection, at the time of application.

  • Traffic safety experience equal to one of the following:
    • (a) Two years of occupational experience, or a comparable amount of experience and education in the area of traffic safety or a related field.
    • (b) Monitor the WTC general traffic safety course plus have completed a one-semester, or 45-hour, traffic safety studies or accident prevention course.
  • AODA experience equal to one of the following:
    • (a) Two years of occupational experience or a comparable amount of experience and education in the area of AODA counseling, education, or treatment or related fields.
    • (b) Completed a minimum of 45 hours in an accredited college-level course in the area of AODA education or treatment.
  • Group process experience equal to one of the following:
    • (a) Two years of occupational experience in group process work or group counseling as a treatment or education professional.
    • (b) Completed a minimum of 45 hours in an accredited college-level course in the area of group work methods, group counseling, or group process.
Essential Aptitudes, Skills, Knowledge, and Personal Characteristics
  • Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies, including learner-centered instruction, assessment, evaluation, and collaborative techniques and strategies that address closing the gap in student access and achievement across race, gender, and disability.
  • Skilled in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods.
  • Knowledge and ability to infuse multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery.
  • Skilled in communications and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds, as well as individuals with disabilities.
  • Skilled in oral and written communications.
  • Ability to effectively interact with business and industry to establish partnerships and address needs.
Additional Information

Hourly pay rate: $45.00 per hour. Pay is based on a multitude of factors, including experience, qualifications, education, relevant certifications, internal equity, and market data.
