Medical Respite Technician

Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) is seeking part-time and full-time Respite Technicians to work evening and night hours at our medical respite facility. With direction from the team RN, the Respite Technician will provide clinical support services to patients and assist the SKH team RNs in delivering high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities- Treat patients with dignity and respect, preserving confidentiality and patient rights.
- Collaborate with the team RN to determine work assignments and priorities, ensuring effective patient care and clinic operations.
- Assist nurse/providers during complex treatments, including preps and set-ups for examinations/treatments.
- Accurately collect patient data, including vital signs, weights, and reason for visits, and notify the team RN of abnormalities.
- Perform basic patient testing, including urine dip, glucose finger stick, and FIT testing.
- Assist patients with personal hygiene, including bed baths and showering, and provide one-to-one support for safety.
- Escort patients to off-site appointments, maintain diabetic carts, and ensure oxygen supply for patients.
- Clean oxygen condensers, collect and label specimens for lab testing, and maintain equipment logs and records.
- Commonwealth of Massachusetts EMT Certification.
- Minimum of 2 years EMT or paramedic experience preferred.
- Strong assessment skills and understanding of substance use disorder and behavioral health issues.
- Interest and experience working with underserved populations preferred.
- Experience with sedating medications and polysubstance use.
- $31.11 per hour.
