Registered Nurse Inpatient-Acute Care Neurology/Neurosurgery

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Inpatient-Acute Care Neurology/Neurosurgery team at UMass Memorial Health. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional patient care and contribute to a culture of excellence and respect.
Responsibilities- Utilize the Nursing Process to deliver and manage patient care from admission to discharge, tailored to the developmental age of the patient population.
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments according to standard procedure.
- Develop and coordinate individual plans of care, including discharge planning.
- Direct, supervise, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care within assigned clinical settings.
- Delegate tasks appropriately to others, in accordance with job descriptions and competency levels.
- Document patient care according to standard procedure.
- Develop, implement, and document education plans for patients, families, and significant others.
- Ensure quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other healthcare providers.
- Administer medications, perform treatments, therapies, and operate equipment according to policy and procedure.
- Assist physicians with treatment and procedures as required or directed.
- Participate in and support Nursing Governance activities.
- Assume responsibility for professional growth and assist in the education and development of staff.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrate the use of quality improvement in daily operations.
- Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
- BLS is a requirement for every RN, unless advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification is current, in addition to any unit-specific certifications and competencies.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred.
Unless certification, licensure, or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience providing proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in individual departments. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
Physical Demands and Environmental ConditionsWork is considered medium. Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment.
