Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Insurance A/R Collector to join our team at Ironwood Physicians, P.C. The successful candidate will be responsible for following up on outstanding accounts and reviewing all open claims and aging reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists and provide weekly reports to the supervisor.
  • Review accounts and follow-up documents for outstanding accounts receivable issues.
  • Review Aging (60+) Reports and identify areas for improvement.
  • Review and appeal unpaid denied claims, prioritizing oldest and largest amounts first.
  • Communicate with patients' insurance and third-party organizations to resolve issues and secure proper reimbursement for billed services.
  • Perform accurate and timely appeals via phone or written correspondence to ensure accurate payer fee schedule reimbursements.
  • Stay up-to-date with payer websites and report updates to supervisors or other staff as needed.
  • Communicate with physicians, nurses, financial counselors, and other employees to resolve patient payer issues.
  • Document patient account notes in a timely manner.
  • Resubmit insurance claims that have received no response or are not on file, in accordance with each insurance's contracted filing limits.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the healthcare reimbursement field.
  • Working knowledge of NCCN guidelines and CCI edits.
  • Knowledge of appealing claims with payers, chemotherapy-related drugs, supplies, SNF, LTC, and Hospice in relation to insurance benefits.
  • Knowledge of governmental, legal, and regulatory provisions related to collection activities.
  • Knowledge of CPT, Dx, HCPCS coding (a plus).
  • Basic mathematics skills.
  • Able to work in a seated position, talk on the phone, and perform repetitive keyboard usage.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
