**Job Summary**
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Access Specialist to join our team at the Houston Journal of Health Law & Policy. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient service and ensuring a smooth front desk experience.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Serve as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff, providing a warm and welcoming experience
* Answer questions and resolve customer service concerns in a professional and courteous manner
* Schedule appointments and provide phone coverage, ensuring seamless communication with patients and staff
* Retrieve and file medical records, enter patient information, and ensure confidentiality
* Verify insurance eligibility, financial status, and assign correct pay type
* Assist patients with check-in and check-out processes, using electronic medical records systems
* Fax, copy, and distribute medical record information as needed
**Requirements**
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Three years of directly related experience preferred
* Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and mathematical functions
