Intake Nurse

Perimeter Healthcare is seeking a skilled Intake Registered Nurse to join our team at Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Dallas. As a key member of our admissions department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth transition of patients into our care.
Job Summary:The Intake Registered Nurse is responsible for receiving, scheduling, and triaging in-bound calls and referrals for patients in need of our services. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Receive and process referral calls, obtaining necessary demographic information and referring calls to the appropriate source or scheduling assessments.
- Process all requests for information and external referrals, ensuring timely and accurate communication with patients and families.
- Complete pre-certifications as needed, working closely with the business office staff to verify benefits and initiate admission processes.
- Assist in arranging patient admissions, including alerting the business office staff to begin verification of benefits and initiating calls to physicians and other related tasks as directed by the Case Manager.
- Determine the need for Releases of Information and process them accordingly, per policy.
- Assist in obtaining necessary records and information, maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient files.
- Arrange disposition and community resources, communicating with the designated Treatment Coordinator as indicated.
- Maintain accurate statistics, provide support to the Outcome Study, and other data as assigned.
- Maintain good communication with the Utilization Review, Business Office, and other staff as indicated.
- Maintain a log of received calls and disposition of calls, and other informational tools as assigned.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, practicing good standards of customer service.
- Valid RN license with the State of Texas.
- Experience in behavioral health assessment and/or treatment.
- At least one year of previous experience in an acute behavioral health hospital preferred.
