Position Summary

The Youth Program Facilitator will play a key role in developing and executing afterschool and summer camp activities for children aged 6-13, as well as supporting evening programs for teens residing in our shelter and transitional housing. This role also involves collaboration with the Activities Specialist for weekend and evening events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Afterschool Coordinator to design and implement daily activities and manage behavior for afterschool and summer programs.
  • Mentor teens in the evening program, providing engaging and age-appropriate activities.
  • Teach social skills, offer constructive feedback, and provide emotional support.
  • Assist in planning and supervising recreational activities for children, teens, and parents during evenings and weekends.
  • Set and monitor individual behavior goals for participants.
  • Provide feedback and guidance on individual progress and overall behavior.
  • Manage enrollment materials and daily attendance records.
  • Report any concerns regarding participants to the Afterschool Coordinator or Assistant Director.
  • Ensure a clean and safe environment in compliance with health standards.
  • Maintain adherence to Child Care Licensing and YWCA standards.
  • Support the preparation of daily lesson plans and notify when supplies are low.
  • Lead the after-school program in the absence of the Afterschool Coordinator.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Encourage adherence to community standards among participants and staff.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children and knowledge of child development.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children and adolescents.
  • Alignment with YWCA Utah's mission and values regarding anti-racism and empowerment.
  • Understanding of cultural diversity and commitment to anti-racism.
  • Availability to work scheduled hours, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in office duties and technology.
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary settings and collaboration.
  • Must pass background checks and meet licensing requirements.

Physical Demands

Work is typically performed in a safe office environment. Duties may require sitting for extended periods, using a computer, and engaging in physical activities related to program facilitation.
