Youth Court Program Coordinator

Job Summary
Utah State University is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Youth Court Facilitator. This role will play a critical part in implementing the Youth Court program, a restorative justice process that serves as an alternative to the traditional Juvenile Justice system.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend weekly hearings to assist in implementing the hearing process and ensure the smooth operation of the Youth Court program.
- Understand and apply the Utah Youth Court Diversion Act, a Utah State Statute governing Utah State Youth Courts.
- Attend weekly Youth Court Hearings in Kearns and participate in the decision-making process.
- Attend monthly Youth Court Task group meetings and Coordinator meetings to stay informed and contribute to the program's development.
- Schedule referred youth for their court dates and schedule Youth Court Panelists for hearings.
- Oversee the preparation and execution of Youth Court Hearings, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to ensure a fair and effective process.
- Gather and input Youth Court data and provide quarterly data summaries to referring agencies and task group stakeholders.
- Help with tracking and reconciling participant fees and maintain accurate records.
- Research and secure disposition partners to provide additional support to program participants.
- Complete all required trainings and stay up-to-date on best practices in restorative justice.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all privacy and data sharing requirements.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a community team of diverse stakeholders and organizations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with program participants, stakeholders, and team members.
- Commitment to confidentiality, honesty, and ethics.
- Ability to be fair and impartial, treating all individuals equally, fairly, and justly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with youth and in restorative justice settings.
- Ability to speak Spanish or other languages relevant to the program's needs.
Working Conditions

The incumbent may be required to lift, push, and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds and be able to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.
