Executive Sous Chef

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Terranea Resort. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and presentation of our culinary offerings, ensuring exceptional quality and consistency in every dish.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks and other kitchen personnel to ensure efficient and effective food preparation and presentation.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of menus, including creating descriptions for all written menus and contributing to research and development.
- Assist in creating and implementing opening and closing procedures, as well as developing job descriptions and standard operating procedures to ensure effective levels of quality and efficiency.
- Execute all mise en place functions, including setup, scheduling, ordering, and receiving, to ensure 100% freshness and quality.
- Communicate effectively with peers, management, and front-of-house employees to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.
- Maintain all sanitation and HACCP documentation in accordance with California and LA County health codes, ensuring superior cleanliness throughout all F&B departments.
- Guide and support the team to exceed guest satisfaction goals, while maintaining a cohesive and motivated team environment.
- Perform related duties as required, including relieving cooks and chefs for various shifts and being an effective listener and communicator.
- Minimum of 1 year of culinary management experience, with 5 years of experience in culinary arts in an upscale restaurant, hotel, resort, or club environment.
- Ability to speak, hear, understand, read, and write the English language.
- Culinary Arts degree desired, with Serve Safe, Sanitation, and HACCP proficiency.
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and able to constantly lift, carry, pull, or push up to 30 pounds of force.
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time.
