Nurse Residency Program Coordinator

The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics is seeking newly graduated nurses to join our Nurse Residency Program. This program is designed to provide a supportive environment for new nurses to transition from academia to practice.
As a nurse in our residency program, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced nurses and receive additional training and support to help you develop your clinical skills and confidence.
The program includes monthly resident classes, unit-based orientation, and hands-on training with clinically experienced preceptors. You will also have the opportunity to work in a Magnet hospital, recognized for its nursing excellence nationally and internationally.
We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for our patients, visitors, and staff. Our nurse residency program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
Key responsibilities of the nurse in this position include:
- Assessing patient health care needs and evaluating the effectiveness of care provided
- Developing patient care plans based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions
- Implementing patient care plans according to patient priorities and documenting interventions and patient/family response
- Collaborating with patients and families to develop and implement transfer/discharge planning throughout the episode of care
