The Senior Claims Examiner is responsible for evaluating and resolving assigned claims within their authority. Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing moderate to complex claims that involve various stages of litigation
  • Maintaining thorough documentation of claim files in accordance with industry Best Practices
  • Independently drafting coverage correspondence, including reservation of rights and denial letters
  • Setting reserves in a timely manner
  • Delivering exceptional customer service to clients
  • Recognizing emerging risks and trends in claims
  • Guiding litigation efforts to optimize the use of defense counsel
  • Identifying potential fraudulent claims and referring them to the special investigations unit
  • Contributing to Claims Projects as required
  • Engaging in reserving discussions and pre-trial meetings

The Claims team at The Ladders is a dynamic group of professionals dedicated to providing top-notch customer service and claims management expertise. Our claims staff are empowered to handle their claims with authority, ensuring fair and prompt resolutions for our clients and partners. With significant growth in our business, the Claims team is committed to achieving profitability while upholding The Ladders' esteemed reputation built on a legacy of exceptional claims handling.

Requirements:

Minimum of 6 years of experience in claims management. A Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school and litigation experience may be considered as a complement to claims experience. Advanced understanding of claims analysis and documentation standards. Proven track record in negotiating settlements for moderate to complex claims. Experience in mentoring and training fellow claims professionals. Strong analytical capabilities and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Active insurance adjuster's license is required. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is preferred.

Additional Considerations:

Expertise in mediation, arbitration, or trial attendance. Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently within established authority levels. Proactively identifies and proposes process improvements within the claims department. Evidence of pursuing additional certifications from recognized authorities such as CPCU, ARMS, or AINS designations.

Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000
