Job Summary

The Family Place is seeking a skilled Prevention Educator to join our team. As a key member of our community outreach program, you will be responsible for delivering violence prevention curriculum to students in elementary, middle, and high schools in Dallas, Denton, and Collin counties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Crisis Intervention and Support: Provide crisis intervention services to youth who have experienced bullying, sexual, or dating violence, and refer them to appropriate resources.
  • Curriculum Development and Delivery: Facilitate Be More Leadership groups for graduates of our Classroom Education program, and co-facilitate community-based Be More group meetings with other Be Project staff.
  • Program Development and Implementation: Assist in developing new curriculum activities, designing handouts and flyers, and updating community presentations to align with current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, Texas Council on Family Violence, and Texas Association Against Sexual Assault.
  • Community Engagement and Outreach: Coordinate efforts to engage the community in primary prevention strategies and activities, and conduct complementary strategies such as community mobilization, coalition building, policy activities, and social norms change.
  • Reporting and Evaluation: Submit accurate and timely performance reports capturing primary prevention activities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in a related environment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of bullying, sexual violence, and other dating violence.
  • Knowledge of the psychosocial needs of youth at various stages of development.
  • Knowledge of various teaching techniques to engage youth and effectively deliver curriculum.
  • Knowledge of MSWord, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Skilled in facilitating educational curriculum/lessons with youth.
  • Skilled in public speaking and presenting to youth and adults.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English and Spanish.
  • Access to reliable transportation to travel throughout the DFW Metroplex area.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
