Position Summary:
As a Youth Violence Prevention Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing educational programs aimed at preventing violence among youth in grades 3-12 across various educational institutions and community organizations. Your role will involve delivering engaging sessions to students, as well as informative presentations for educators and parents in the Dallas, Denton, and Collin counties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide immediate support and intervention for youth who report experiences of bullying, sexual violence, or dating violence, ensuring appropriate referrals to necessary services.
  • Lead leadership development groups for students who have completed the educational curriculum, collaborating with fellow staff members to facilitate community-based meetings and events.
  • Contribute to the development of educational materials, including new activities and updated presentations for community outreach.
  • Enhance the program's online presence by managing social media accounts and engaging with the community through regular updates.
  • Complete essential administrative tasks, including statistical reporting, timesheets, and progress documentation.
  • Design and implement primary prevention strategies in alignment with guidance from relevant health organizations.
  • Engage the community in initiatives focused on primary prevention and awareness.
  • Conduct outreach efforts that include coalition building, policy advocacy, and promoting positive social norms.
  • Submit timely performance reports detailing prevention activities undertaken.
Additional Duties:
  • Participate in ongoing training to remain informed about the latest prevention strategies and domestic violence issues.
  • Attend staff meetings and supervision sessions as required.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, or a related field, along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
Bilingual Requirement: Proficiency in both English and Spanish is essential.

Licenses and Certifications: A valid Texas Driver's License is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of issues related to bullying, sexual violence, and dating violence.
  • Awareness of the developmental needs of youth at various stages.
  • Familiarity with diverse teaching methods to effectively engage students.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience working with a diverse student population.
  • Strong skills in delivering educational content and public speaking.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms in English and Spanish.
  • Access to reliable transportation for travel within the designated area.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
