General Function:


A Cultural Engagement Program Coordinator plays a pivotal role in leading and supporting participants of the Native Pathways Program (NPP), ensuring a fulfilling experience for families that aligns with the mission of fostering strong communities through connection.

This position focuses on nurturing positive relationships with Native American youth while collaborating effectively with parents and elders.

Under the guidance of the Community Development Manager, the Coordinator will assist the NPP Education Coordinators with various daily operations related to program activities and events.

This is a part-time role, available as needed for special events and projects.

Know How:


The Coordinator must demonstrate clear and effective communication skills with youth, parents, and staff, both verbally and in writing. Strong organizational abilities are essential, along with the capacity to maintain focus in dynamic environments. Interactions with diverse individuals should be handled with courtesy, tact, and professionalism.


Essential Qualifications:
Education and experience in youth programs, recreation, or related fields.

Successful completion of a background check.

CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications, along with Cultural Sensitivity and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire.

Ability to implement age-appropriate and developmentally suitable program activities.

A positive attitude and a genuine passion for working with youth.

Patience and energy to engage with NPP youth, while also enforcing rules and policies.

Capability to foster positive relationships with individuals from Native American backgrounds.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods.

Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Effective verbal communication with good voice projection.

Capacity to perform various tasks outdoors in different weather conditions.

Up-to-date immunizations are required.

Key Responsibilities:
Prioritize the safety of all participants at all times.

Maintain awareness of participant locations during activities such as early arrivals, transportation, camps, and events.

Understand, adhere to, and enforce NPP rules and safety protocols for camps, field trips, and activities.


Exemplify positive behaviors by setting a standard in punctuality, manners, language, appearance, health, and respect for facilities and nature.

Supervise children's activities, including music, games, arts, and outdoor events.

Ensure a positive experience for each participant, encouraging engagement and fostering social interactions.

Respond appropriately to emergencies during NPP camps, trips, and events.

Maintain positive relationships with parents and other staff members.

Ensure all equipment is in good working order and returned to designated locations.

Keep accurate program records.

Participate in staff meetings and necessary training.

Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of assigned areas.

Communicate any program changes or equipment needs to NPP Education Coordinators or the Community Development Manager.

Support NPP Education Coordinators or contractors during their activities.

Report any challenging or unusual situations to the NPP Education Coordinators or Community Development Manager.

Other duties as assigned.
