TerraBella Summerville is a leading provider of senior living and care services, operating over 30 communities across the Carolinas, Virginia, Georgia, and Tennessee. Our communities offer a range of senior living options, including Active Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Respite Care.

We are seeking a skilled Care Giver/Medication Technician to join our team at TerraBella Summerville. As a key member of our care team, you will provide hands-on care and support to our residents, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide care and support to a designated group of residents, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Observe and report any changes in resident condition, including skin, behavior, alertness, weight, dietary, and participation in activities.
  • Respond promptly to security system and resident call bells.
  • Notify supervisor and/or Health Care Coordinator of any increased care needs.
  • Assist with continence management and dispose of continence products properly.
  • Serve and collect food trays, and assist as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and work areas.
  • Practice good standard care precautions of cleanliness, hygiene, and health.
  • Help residents maintain independence, promote dignity, and physical safety.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, ambulation, transferring, eating, and life skills.
  • Engage residents in life enrichment activities.
  • Greet and assist all internal and external customers, guests, family members, residents, vendors, and team members.
  • Perform resident laundry as assigned and needed.

Medication Technician Duties:

  • Review service plan to learn pertinent information about residents.
  • Assist/observe medications and treatments for each resident using the medication observation record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
  • Document and initial form as medications are given, including documentation for refusal or missed doses.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident information, including resident medication.
  • Report all resident concerns made while assisting resident with medication to the Nurse and/or Health Care Coordinator.
  • Restock medication cart after all medication passes.
  • Assist in checking medication regardless of packaging system.
  • Count all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift.
  • Maintain and clean the Medication Room, med charts, treatment carts for neatness, cleanliness, availability of medications, and expired medications.
  • Follow re-fill process for medications.
  • Participate in the development of the Service Plan and monthly updates.
  • Take and record temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse, and respiration rates.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks, and hazardous chemicals immediately.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Nurse's Aid certification preferred.
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • CPR Certification preferred.
  • First Aid Certification preferred.
  • Previous experience working with seniors preferred.
