Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist with the process of filling prescriptions for Uphams Corner Health Center patients. This role is responsible for providing prompt and accurate customer service, establishing and verifying patient profiles, and entering prescription data into the pharmacy computer system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide customer service to patients and respond to their inquiries.
  • Verify patient profiles and ensure accuracy of demographic, allergy, contact, and insurance information.
  • Request authorization for prescription refills via fax or e-prescriptions.
  • Enter prescription data into the pharmacy computer system and ensure billing accuracy.
  • Count medications, affix labels to prescription containers, and fill medication compliance packaging.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the pharmacy.
  • Refer patient-related concerns or complaints to the pharmacist on duty.
  • Communicate with insurance companies under the supervision of the pharmacist.
  • Check MassPat PMP for Controlled Substance prescriptions eligibilities as needed.
  • Check Electronic Medical Records System for patient insurance information and 340B eligibilities.
  • Comply with all Federal, State, and Uphams Corner Health Center regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Offer patients the opportunity to ask questions to the pharmacist regarding their medications.
  • Provide translation for patients as needed for consultations with the pharmacist.
  • Perform other duties as required by the position or assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Completion of a Board-approved pharmacy technician training program and registration with the Mass Board of Pharmacy.
  • Ability to adhere to HIPAA rules and regulations.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to function in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy of transactions.
  • Flexibility, kindness, and ability to remain calm under stressful circumstances.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Medical Record Systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a pharmacy technician.
  • Bilingual language skills in English and Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole.
