Position Overview:

This role is essential for overseeing a comprehensive service and storage framework. Key responsibilities encompass the provisioning, installation/configuration, monitoring, upgrading, and maintenance of system hardware and software. The aim is to ensure optimal levels of system and infrastructure availability. This position also provides tier 2 and tier 3 support escalation. Furthermore, it involves tasks related to data center management and mentoring junior team members. The role requires participation in on-call duties and occasional planned work outside regular hours.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Regularly applies operating system patches and upgrades.
  • Upgrades administrative tools and utilities, configuring and adding new services as required.
  • Maintains and manages the Active Directory infrastructure, including users, computers, security/distribution groups, organizational units, and group policy objects.
  • Administers the Single-Sign-On (SSO) solution, configuring new applications and maintaining existing ones to maximize SSO benefits.
  • Oversees project management for system upgrades and rollouts as necessary.
  • Evaluates hardware and software system performance, reviews monitoring tools, and conducts routine maintenance as needed.
  • Escalates significant issues to management promptly.
  • Installs new servers or rebuilds existing ones according to standards and operational requirements, including configuring hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage.
  • Follows established change control procedures and operates within a fully audited financial services environment, adhering to best practices.
  • Researches and proposes innovative solutions for system administration tasks that utilize limited resources effectively.
  • Ensures compliance of system hardware, operating systems, and software with company policies.
  • Develops and maintains procedures for installation, configuration, and hardening.
  • Assists in managing the email environment.
  • Supports the administration of the virtual server environment.
  • Provides helpdesk support as operational needs dictate.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience with Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems.
  • Microsoft certification is advantageous.
  • Cloud certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with industry compliance standards such as Payment Card Industry (PCI) is preferred.
  • Experience with Linux is desirable.
  • PowerShell scripting experience is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure is preferred.

Key Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Server and Desktop Products.
  • Familiarity with VMWare ESX server virtualization products.
  • Proven troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Professional demeanor, courteous interaction with internal customers and colleagues, positive attitude, and teamwork orientation.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to understand and assimilate information relevant to job functions.
  • Ability to multitask is essential.
