Initial Responsibilities:
  • Lead the technical aspects of chemical and fertilizer applications, ensuring safety compliance and accurate record-keeping.
  • Manage daily operations through effective crew leadership, collaborating with other assistants and the superintendent.
  • Assist in planning and executing maintenance activities, including mowing, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and weed management.
  • Oversee and train maintenance staff, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of the irrigation system.
  • Prepare the golf course for events and daily play, coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Conduct routine safety inspections on all spraying and fertilizer equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with safety data sheets and governmental regulations.
  • Ensure proper training and licensing for all staff involved in chemical handling.
  • Assist in hiring, training, and evaluating staff performance.
  • Develop ongoing training programs for new associates.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in agronomy, plant science, or turf management is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in golf course or landscape management.
  • Ability to obtain necessary pesticide applicator licenses.
  • Experience in a private club setting is advantageous.
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
