Position Overview

As a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at GEICO, you will take the lead in the design, development, and management of sophisticated private cloud systems. This role is essential for driving innovation and delivering effective technology solutions through your extensive experience in hardware automation and large-scale system architecture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, and manage scalable private cloud environments utilizing OpenStack and MaaS.
  • Develop automation strategies for the provisioning and management of bare metal servers in expansive settings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance tools that automate infrastructure deployment and operations.
  • Produce high-quality, well-documented code while adhering to OpenSource community standards.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement in system architecture.
  • Utilize programming languages such as Python, C#, and other object-oriented languages, alongside SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as container orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Mentor junior engineers, sharing insights on cloud infrastructure and best practices in system management.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in OpenStack components and services.
  • Experience with KVM and Metal as a Service platforms.
  • Proven ability to design and implement complex IT solutions at scale.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Python and Go.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IAC) methodologies, particularly Terraform.
  • Proficient in Ansible for configuration management and deployment.
  • Deep understanding of Linux/Unix systems, including administration and scripting.
  • Solid grasp of networking concepts and security protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud storage technologies.

Experience Requirements

  • 4+ years in a similar role focused on OpenStack and hardware automation.
  • 4+ years of experience in designing and managing large-scale private clouds.
  • 4+ years of systems/server management experience with relevant technologies.
  • 4+ years working with security protocols and products.
  • 4+ years in a collaborative development environment using modern methodologies.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
