Position: Cloud Solutions Engineer

GAMA-1 Technologies, LLC is in search of a seasoned remote systems engineer to enhance and support infrastructure services tailored for high-performance computing applications within the OAR Cloud. This position necessitates a blend of cloud proficiency, web development capabilities, and a robust comprehension of IT infrastructure.

In this role, you will be tasked with the planning and engineering of the client's cloud computing infrastructure and applications. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing server, network, and software configurations focused on cloud computing infrastructures while adhering to DevOps principles.
  • Monitoring system performance and ensuring optimal operation.
  • Possessing a solid understanding of cloud technology concepts, including Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).

The Cloud Solutions Engineer will collaborate within an agile product development team to establish and maintain high-performance computing models in the OAR Cloud. You will engage with internal teams and stakeholders to configure environments, manage permissions/policies, and ensure security and documentation for OAR Cloud workloads. Key responsibilities include:

  • Building, testing, deploying, and maintaining IT infrastructure in Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
  • Applying knowledge of parallel computing in cloud environments, with familiarity in schedulers like Slurm being advantageous.
  • Addressing service requests related to existing high-performance cloud computing use cases and troubleshooting issues while adhering to compliance and operational constraints.
  • Updating and managing cloud service platforms (AWS and Azure), including regular documentation updates based on evolving technologies and regulatory changes.
  • Developing solutions using Infrastructure as Code methodologies, such as AWS Cloud Formation Templates and Azure ARM Templates.
  • Managing source code with NOAA-approved tools (GitHub Enterprise) and ensuring compliance with the OAR Change Control process.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated web application development experience.
  • Proven track record as a Cloud Engineer or in a similar capacity.
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, and GCP; relevant certifications are preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Client management skills for discussing systems as necessary.
  • Extensive experience in architecting and provisioning enterprise-level Cloud services.
  • Experience in migrating on-premise workloads to public or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate; Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies; Google Cloud Platform: Infrastructure.
