About the Role

The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in facilitating communication between patients, families, providers, and other care team members. As a liaison, the MA is responsible for coordinating patient flow by collecting and reviewing clinical data, ensuring that all necessary information is available to the provider. The MA performs and assists with clinical procedures as directed by the provider and in accordance with established protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Patient Care
    • Respond to patient and family inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
    • Monitor and respond to incoming requests and notifications.
    • Ensure that all necessary documents are available for patients, including diagnostic reports.
  • Collect and Record Patient Information
    • Interview patients to obtain their medical history.
    • Record patient medical history, vital statistics, and test results in patient medical files.
  • Perform Routine Screening Tests
    • Conduct routine screening tests, such as height and weight measurements and blood pressure checks.
  • Support Business Operations
    • Confirm patient appointments and ensure that all patient insurance information is up-to-date.
    • Coordinate patient check-in and maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
    • Facilitate virtual visits when the provider is not on-site.
    • Maintain computer and electronic system competency, including scheduling, appointment cancellations, and order entry for clinical systems.
  • Monitor Patient Adherence
    • Perform regular check-ins with patients to assess adherence to care plans.
  • Collaborate with Facility Staff
    • Maintain a friendly, cooperative, and collaborative relationship with facility staff.
  • Participate in On-Call Duties
    • Participate in on-call duties as required.

Job Qualifications

  • Education
    • Associate's degree
  • Experience
    • 1-2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Licenses/Certifications
    • Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) Preferred (or within first year)
