Position Overview

As an Accounting Intern, you will collaborate with senior team members to support daily operations within the Accounting and Finance Departments. This role offers significant exposure and opportunities to engage with various business functions and projects related to accounting, taxation, risk management, and financial planning. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills, coupled with a genuine desire to learn about the essential accounting and finance operations of a global proprietary trading firm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of finance and accounting while enhancing your understanding of our business operations, revenue generation, and expense management.
  • Support the accounts payable team throughout the entire payable cycle, including tracking incoming invoices, assisting with the approval process, and ensuring timely vendor payments.
  • Monitor daily revenue, risk, and working capital fluctuations.
  • Assist in preparing daily profit and loss reports based on previous trading activities.
  • Contribute to monthly and year-end accounting processes, including the annual audit.
  • Analyze specific balance sheet accounts to propose and record necessary journal entries.
  • Execute regular and ad-hoc accounting and finance projects.
  • Assist with treasury management tasks, including initiating cash movement requests, projecting cash and collateral needs, optimizing cash allocation and credit usage, managing foreign exchange exposures, and evaluating potential investments of excess funds.
Qualifications
  • Recent graduate or currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with SQL is advantageous.
  • Experience with General Ledger software; knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics or Great Plains is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of financial accounting statements, accounting principles, and GAAP.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to comprehend the financial implications of operational results.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills, capable of handling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • This position requires on-site presence.
