About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer I to join our team at Spectrum. As a key member of our Product and Technology team, you will be responsible for engineering activities that maintain and enhance our telecommunications and signal processing hardware, software, and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, monitor, enhance, and troubleshoot systems in assigned areas.
  • Analyze and revise existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary.
  • Test and review system designs.
  • Provide Engineering Technical support and guidance to regional personnel and ensure all technical integration, changes, standards, and documentation are met.
  • Mentor and guide the work of technical staff.
  • Review work plans and designs and advise on improvements.
  • Adhere to industry-specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
  • Know, understand, and follow company policy.
  • Perform other duties as requested by manager.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of engineering work experience.
  • 5+ years of project management work experience.
  • Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience.
  • Basic knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet, and Transport technologies and protocols.
  • Basic knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols, and network topology.
  • Basic knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model.
  • Basic knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.
  • Basic knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances.
  • Basic knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of company products and services.
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE).
  • Industry and vendor-specific certifications and training preferred (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.).
  • Skills in Monitoring, DevOps, Coding, Networking/Routing, Operations Automation/DevOps, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins/Cloudbees, Bash Scripting, and Coding in Python, Java, Go, Groovy, and CI/CD DSL.
  • Familiarity with or competence in using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins/Cloudbees, and Harness.
  • Application Software/Platforms in Linux/Bash/sh/zsh/RHEL/Ubuntu, Anypoint Platform/Mulesoft, Pega (SaaS), Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform, Kubernetes, SalesForce, and Netcracker CPQ.
  • Optional qualifications in Oracle Database, Postgres Database, Java/SpringBoot/WebLogic, Docker/Buildah container build, and Infrastructure Automation.

The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
