Job Overview

The Downtown Emergency Service Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals with complex needs achieve their highest potential for health and well-being. We are currently seeking a Residential Counselor to manage day-to-day operations at our Permanent Supportive Housing Projects.

In this role, you will work closely with clinical staff to provide support and guidance to residents with severe and persistent mental illness and substance use disorders. You will also be responsible for managing building operations, ensuring the safety and security of residents, and writing daily logs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist clinical staff in coordinating services and developing strategies to engage residents.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to residents in need.
  • Manage building operations, including maintenance requests and rent collection.
  • Work cooperatively with clinical and maintenance staff to ensure the smooth operation of the project.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social or behavioral science (preferred).
  • Basic understanding of homelessness and its challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients displaying a wide range of behaviors.
  • Current Washington State Driver's License and insurable driving record.
