Cyber Security Faculty Position

About the Opportunity
The Department of Cyber Security at Harper College is seeking a full-time tenure-track faculty member to join our team. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for teaching the theoretical and practical applications of cyber security, including security of computing and networking devices, cryptography, hardware and software security, cloud security, usability of security, forensics, event remediation, security policy development, vulnerability assessment, impact analysis, and Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery.
Responsibilities
- Develop and teach curricula in cyber security, including security frameworks such as ISO, NIST, COBIT, and CIS.
- Guide students in implementing security best practices and creating an effective learning environment that promotes critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Assist in program outreach and recruitment, and promote programs to district high schools.
- Participate in departmental responsibilities, including chair/coordinator duties.
Requirements
- Expertise in cyber security management and extensive knowledge of the subject matter.
- Ability to create an effective learning environment and guide students in implementing security best practices.
- Experience in teaching and curriculum development.
Working Conditions
This is a 9-month contract position, teaching a standard load of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester. Classes may be offered in day, evening, and/or online modalities. Instructors are expected to hold weekly office hours on campus to be available for student support.
